Who We Are
Root & Sun was founded by Matt Aton. With degrees in agriculture and molecular biology, Matt brings a deep understanding of the biology that keeps plants healthy and thriving. He’s built practical knowledge over years of hands-on work at some of the Valley's most respected growers, including Maya's Farm, Whitfill Nursery, Berridge Nursery, and Civano Nursery.
His experience runs from traditional horticulture to the cutting edge: he built state-of-the-art hydroponic growing systems at Pure Greens, and developed the native tree nursery for the Maricopa County Flood Control District. That range, from desert natives to advanced growing science, is what he brings to every property he cares for.
Matt founded Root & Sun to combine that expertise with a commitment to ecological stewardship and a craftsman's attention to detail. The goal is simple: landscapes that are healthier, more beautiful, and tended by someone who understands what makes them thrive.
